At some point in our lives most of us have tried a going on a ‘diet’ for some reason or another. We may feel the need for structure in our food choices or feel overwhelmed trying to decide what to eat. Or we may feel like it is the easy fix to dropping weight quickly. We lose 5 or 10 pounds and a couple weeks (or a couple of days for some of us) go by and we find ourselves bored of the routine, or tired of being hungry. An event or occasion pops up and we say we will get back on it after. But after never comes, does it? Excuse after excuse and then we feel like failures.
So why do we still try to convince ourselves there is a ‘diet’ out there that will magically work this time? Can you lose weight without a diet? I think we need to be really honest with ourselves and find out the real reason why we think we need an easy fix. Losing weight is not easy. But it is doable with the right attitude and the right information.
First and foremost we need to create a balance between our bodies and our food. Every body is different, therefore every individual has their own balance, you just need to commit to finding your unique balance.
How To Lose Weight Without A Diet:
1) Forget everything you have heard about dieting
2) Continue to eat what you like but leave 1 bite of every food every time you eat (if you feel like it is wasteful, wrap it up and save it for a snack if you get hungry later, or if you have a dog – feed your dog a little less dog food and add left overs to his bowl)
3) Add 3 more servings of produce to your normal daily intake (i.e. if you are currently eating 3 servings of fruits and veggies, now aim for 6 daily)
4) Drink more water
5) Move more everyday (can be as simple as taking a walk after dinner, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, dancing while you clean the house – whatever floats your boat)
